Hi there I know one of the principles of the SG was that you did things standing up....but those were your rules :-) and I ended up with a new movement this week, a sort of modified Russian twist / kayak paddle. Sit on the floor with the feet flat, kees bent in a sit up position and upper body inclined back at about 50 degrees. the SG is held like a kayak paddle and taken from one side to the other, so that the upper body twists from side to side. I don't know if I've explained this well - but it is like this : http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.php?Name=Russian+Twist or http://www.myodynamics.com/exdex/corebod_art.rotate2.html while holding the SG like a paddle... This is a great exercise for the abs, plus it is very functional which leads me to the article! http://www.paulchekseminars.com/printfriendly.cfm?select=12 I was reading this and thinking about how the SG ideas mimic what we are looking at here - primal movements that involve the whole body. The SG emphasises the whole body in functional movement which ultimately is what we should be aiming for Cheers Chris [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
