Subject: Length of shaft...

Wow, that could almost be construed as the beginning to a horrible
spam letter.

Anyways, i've just picked up my first sledge (10lb with a wooden
handle) and had a couple of thoughts i'd throw to the group.

1) The length of my shaft is 30". The reason i didn't grab the 8lb
hammer is 'cause it was about 20" and just felt too tiny. What sorta
lengths do people have? And has anyone played around with shorter or
longer one? Obviously the effect of having the weight further away
from you is important - but how much difference is there?

2) Fiberglass vs Wooden. I've got a fiberglass and wooden handled
hammer (the itsy ones you use for nails) and find that while i prefer
holding the wooden one - the fiberglass one tends to absorb the
vibration from hammering more. Thought i'd toss that out there as i've
seen a few discussions no people preferring wood vs fiberglass or vise
versa.
